The work hovers between the recognisable and the indeterminate. Its forms suggest phytomorphic elements, yet resist being fully defined.
Its structure unfolds across three interconnected levels.
The horizontal plane is divided by a narrow fissure that reveals entangled filaments beneath the surface, suggesting a hidden network.
Above, a leafless, tree-like form emerges. Depending on the light, its uneven white surfaces shift from luminous translucency to an ashen, almost lifeless appearance. The thin branches alternate between fresh, tendril-like growths and dry, eroded forms, with small openings recalling wounds, ruptures or emerging buds.
At the centre of the trunk, a concave opening exposes fine structures, as if an outer membrane had parted to reveal an empty, almost generative cavity.
Below, the forms become increasingly abundant and luxuriant. The branching structures evoke indeterminate vegetal forms, almost aquatic. At the centre, an irregular piece of pale greenish glass suggests a seed, an embryo or an inner gem.
The contrast between the sparse structure above and the abundance below is central to the work, suggesting a discrepancy between appearance and essence.
In this sense, the sculpture reflects on hidden value: what remains unseen is not necessarily less important; it may be what sustains everything else.
The work brings together opposing associations — fragility and protection, vitality and impermanence, sterile and fertile, exposed and intimate, organic and mineral, revealed and concealed — held in an ambiguous balance.
Developed intermittently over many years, the work has undergone successive acts of dismantling and reconstruction, mirroring a process of transformation without a predetermined outcome.
