Anemonia
2006
photography
37 x 50 cm
Opaline formations expand into an elusive, almost weightless landscape.
Seen up close, the fine filaments evoke shifting, indeterminate associations.
The translucent strands appear to emerge from a softly reflecting fluid, recalling delicate aquatic organisms, crystalline fibers, a living nest.
The suspended atmosphere and almost amniotic warmth create a dreamlike scenario.
The photograph depicts a mass of uncooked soy noodles, yet what we see cannot be easily determined.
The everyday loses its familiarity, becoming strangely inscrutable.
Beyond the prosaic nature of the material, the image explores the permeability of forms and perception, acting as a threshold between reality and vision.
