Under my skin
2005
photography [lambda print, plexi, d-bond]
15 x 20 cm
The series Under my skin portrays soap bars shaped through repeated use.
Their irregular forms appear almost organic, marked by lumps, fissures and soft swellings, while their translucent surfaces seem to form small flaps, like skin lifting along the edges.
They recall fragile membranes, rippled layers of tissue, delicate silk folds, worn hems.
Their prosaic immanence seems to exfoliate, unveiling an unseen interior and evoking a strangely intimate vulnerability.
