Veils
2010
photography [lambda print, plexi +d-bond]
70 x 100 cm
The opalescent whites and delicate transparencies recall veils of marble and alabaster, or the purity of Arctic tides frozen in stillness.
The images depict ordinary mud-stained sheets used to protect agricultural fields from winter frost.
Their translucent surfaces exceed their materiality, revealing unexpected beauty and opening onto broader visual resonances.
Like bridal veils or funerary shrouds spread across the dormant landscape, they seem suspended in a perceptual ambiguity, evoking protection and concealment, presence and absence, purity and decay.
